anyscan.download is a free browser-native web tool for creating, scanning, validating, batching and printing machine-readable codes. The homepage is the tool: there is no account, no installation and no separate sign-up step.
What this tool does
Paste a link, a product number, a Wi-Fi credential or a spreadsheet column and anyscan.download turns it into a scannable code you can copy, download or print. It also works in the other direction: upload or photograph an existing code and it will decode and explain it. The same engine powers every entry point, so a code built in the bulk spreadsheet workflow is produced by exactly the same encoder as one typed by hand.
Everything happens in your browser
Generation, spreadsheet parsing, image decoding, camera scanning, verification and PDF or ZPL export all run on your own device. The values you type, the spreadsheets you import and the images you scan are never uploaded, because there is no application endpoint to upload them to. The deployment serves the compiled page and static assets; it has no server-side generation, scanning or printing path.
This is a structural property rather than a promise: you can confirm it yourself by opening your browser's network inspector while you work. The privacy page documents the exact boundary and the audit procedure.
What it can make and read
anyscan.download generates QR codes and Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF barcodes, plus GS1-128 and GS1 Data Matrix through a guided builder that assembles the element string for you. Its scanner reads all of those and additionally decodes Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec codes from images and camera input.
The tool encodes identifiers that you already hold. It does not issue or allocate GS1 company prefixes, GTINs or any other registered identifier — those come from your numbering authority.
Why “verified scannable” means something
A generator that only draws a picture cannot tell you whether the picture is readable. After rendering a code, anyscan.download decodes that render on your device using a decoder built by a different project from the encoder, compares the decoded value against what you entered, and checks contrast, quiet zones and module size. The result is reported honestly: a code that cannot be decoded, or whose customization has made it unreliable, is flagged rather than quietly passed.
The verification methodology explains what that check covers, and — just as importantly — what it does not guarantee about a specific physical printer or scanner.
How it stays free
The tools are free to use and intended to stay that way. Running costs are supported by advertising placed on tool pages, after the page's own explanatory content and never inside the generator, the results area, the download controls or any transient state. Privacy, Terms, the methodology page and error pages carry no advertising at all.
Nothing you enter is used for advertising. Your codes, spreadsheets and scans are never sent to an advertising network, an analytics service or any other third party, because they never leave your browser in the first place.
What this tool deliberately does not do
- No account, subscription, trial or paywall for browser-local functionality.
- No client analytics or telemetry module, and no error-reporting service that could carry the contents of your work off your device.
- No selling or sharing of user content, because no user content is collected.
- No downloadable application to install.
Limits are technical, not commercial
Published row counts, file sizes and export batch sizes exist to protect your browser's memory and responsiveness, and to prevent accidental runaway print jobs. They are not free-plan quotas and they do not unlock with payment. Where a job is genuinely too large to run safely in a browser tab, anyscan.download refuses it and says so rather than freezing the page.
