Code 128 is suited to compact printable ASCII identifiers. The shared generator renders the barcode locally and can decode-verify the generated output before download.

Adjust bar width and height, then test the real print and scanner combination.
Use Batch for a column of values or Labels for PDF and ZPL output.
| Format | Use when | Do not use it to imply |
|---|---|---|
| Code 128 | An internal system accepts compact printable ASCII identifiers | A registered retail product identity. |
| Code 39 | A legacy workflow explicitly requires its restricted character set | The same density as Code 128. |
| EAN or UPC | A supplied retail identifier has the required length and checksum | That the number was allocated to a product merely because it validates. |
| ITF | The receiver explicitly expects an even-length numeric symbol | General text or an arbitrary alphanumeric SKU. |
ASSET-0042
This printable ASCII value is suitable for Code 128 when your receiving system expects an internal asset identifier. The locally decoded result should be exactly ASSET-0042, including the hyphen and leading zeroes. A Code 128 symbol does not give this value retail registration or GS1 meaning. Keep the quiet zones clear when placing the SVG in a label layout.
No. Use EAN-13 or UPC-A only when the required retail identifier and check digit are available.
Yes. Batch supports a fixed Code 128 format or a mapped Format column.
